What's New Version 8.0.0: Note: Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro are available today for $79.99 and $199.99 respectively through the VMware Online Store, while existing Fusion 6 or 7 customers can upgrade to Fusion 8 for $49.99 or Fusion 8 Pro for $119.99.
One of our signs at our Palo Alto campus The Fusion and Workstation teams are having a very busy year. Since we shipped Fusion 8 and Workstation 12 almost a year ago, we’ve been busy adding new skills to the development teams so that we can take the products in a new and compelling direction. Added to that, the team has released several updates that you really should be loading on to your systems – they make the products better in a bunch of ways that are described,. Given that some of the new features we’re working on are aimed at developers, we recently sponsored a party at WWDC so that people could meet the me and the rest of the management team.
VMware Fusion 10 makes Windows 10 feel right at home on your Mac. Whether you’re doing a fresh install for that brand new operating system experience, migrating your Windows 10 PC, or upgrading your Windows 7 or 8 virtual machines, VMware Fusion gives you the best of both worlds.
I was impressed by how passionate and supportive the party-goers were, and we certainly learned a lot. Our backlog of ideas almost doubled! Early shot of the rooftop Patio Party with Macworld and friends during WWDC 2016, VMware’s Andy Morris can be seen on the very right in the middle of some intense conversation with our eStore team director, Michael B. More sober and back in the office, it occurred to us that more people might like to meet the team too. The management team is boring, that’s just the five of us Powerpoint jockies; the real teams that do the hard work of building, delivering and supporting the products are a diverse group of people spread all over the world. Our Palo Alto braintrust.
Without these geniuses, we wouldn’t be having this conversation! Ooh, and check out the turtles in our pond! The core compute, storage and network guys work on all of VMware’s hypervisors and are known as Layer 1. These guys build the hypervisor as well as our Virtual Devices (all the “hardware” that Windows/guests see), the Graphics stack, the Networking stack, VMware Tools, VMRC (the ‘console’ view), USB devices, and the list goes on In the photo is about half of the group. Every one of the people in this photo is a certifiable genius, and without these guys, a whole industry would not exist. Our Hosted UI and Quality teams Once they’ve done their voodoo, as they do, they pass the base code to these guys, our Hosted-UI (Product) and QE (Quality) teams. These folks have the incredibly difficult task of turning what is basically just cool tech, in to the products you love.
And they do it exceedingly well. Every time we do a customer survey, Workstation and Fusion score the highest of all our products for quality and satisfaction. Our Hosted-UI team members, past and present, put in a lot of hours making Fusion and Workstation the amazing products they are today, and for that we can’t begin to express our gratitude.
By the same extension, we couldn’t be more excited about what we have in store for the future! The Support team! Of course, even with awesome quality control, sometimes you just need help solving a problem, and that’s where these guys come in. This is about half of our 24 hour, 7 days a week, Fusion and Workstation support staff. These guys are the ones we listen to the most.
Building new products is fun, but we’re very aware that you rely on them to. These guys are our canaries, our triage, our compass. We couldn’t do it without them. This combined team is working tirelessly to support you in your business. They’ve got a great surprise lined up for Q3, something very interesting for Q4, and something very big for H1. It’s not easy delivering a product that is downloaded almost 5 million times a year, but these people are the very best at what they do, and we’re proud to have them with us. Mac World Party At WWDC 15 It was a great honor to be able to support the Apple Developer’s Community by sponsoring last night’s party at. It’s great to meet so many developers keen to build future Apple based products. And humbling to hear stories of how many of them used Fusion Pro to engineer and and test OS X on OS X using our type 2 hypervisor. The main benefits, according the well fed and overly-served crowd, seemed to be the ability have Yosemite, Mavericks and the beta of El Capitan all running side by side on the same hardware. Pretty cool stuff. Everyone that attended the party left with a goody-bag that included a free copy of Fusion Pro. For the rest of you, please remember that Fusion & Fusion Pro are on sale this week only.

Our friend over at has a about the intricacies of printing to a Mac printer from a Windows machine, either virtual or physical.
Lots of people know about Apple’s networking software and how it can be used to print on a. But what a lot of people may not know is that with some tweaking, even a non-Bonjour capable printer can be used to print from Windows, with the help of an additional Apple technology:.

Recently Macworld a bunch of the sessions from the annual conference for viewing online. So we thought we’d join in on the fun too. This may come under the heading of 'You’re only getting to this now?' But now that we’re somewhat unburied from Macworld, we’ve pulled together some of our own experiences–pictures, customer quotes, and video–from the annual Mac pilgrimage to share back with the larger community.
Our has been updated with those items, We even created a video compilation of great moments from throughout the show, from when Sinbad showed up to rave about VMware Fusion for, to when a user brought by cookies and a thank you note to let us know how much he likes the software. All the cool interviews that took place at Macworld are slowly but surely making their way out of the woodwork. Had a chance to catch up with Pat, our fearless product manager, at and talk a little bit about (that was pronounced 'aboot' by the way) and its features like mode, Dual SMP, and how it helps users run. Looking at this video’s fantastic editing, especially in light of my own somewhat attempts, is really quite impressive. Kudos to NewMediaManitoba.tv for making such great video podcasts. The Beginning This time last year, we had just shipped our first public beta of VMware for the Mac, codenamed 'Fusion' and I had just joined VMware and the Mac team right before Macworld. VMware had its first Macworld booth ever and the Mac team talked to thousands of Mac users looking for a way to run Windows on their Mac (or maybe they talked to us get the free t-shirt that we gave away! ) The Mac team came away from Macworld pumped and got back to work making VMware for the Mac even better. We added, the first hardware acclerated 3D graphics in the Mac virtualization market when released in beta 2 in February 2007. In April, we announced we had a: VMware Fusion (TM).

In June, with beta 4 we introduced, the most seamless way to run Windows applications like Mac applications. In the end, there were over 250,000 beta downloads of VMware Fusion before we launched VMware Fusion 1.0. The Launch On August 6, 2007 we launched and brought the following exclusive features to the Mac platform that still aren’t shipping today in other products including a Cocoa-native user interface with customizable toolbars, support for 2-way Virtual SMP for multiple processors in a virtual machine, ability to run both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems in a virtual machine, and no limits on the number of virtual machines runnings at a time, you are limited only by available memory. The Dot Release In November 2007, we released which added experimental support for DirectX 9.0 (without shaders) 3D graphics, full support for Mac OS X Leopard, and simultanously shipped a single installer for English, French, German, and Japanese. In addition, we also released beta 1 of, which allows you to easily migrate your Parallels Desktop for Mac virtual machines to VMware Fusion. Virtual Machine Importation with Ease Earlier this week, we released beta 2 of VMware Importer which adds support for importing Virtual PC 7.0 for Mac virtual machines in addition to improving support for importing Parallels Desktop for Mac virtual machines. I recommended checking out, it is great tool to get you up and running in VMware Fusion quickly.
It was been an incredibly busy year and I can’t be prouder of being part of the Mac team at VMware. The Mac team is building products that we as Mac users want to use and are happy our users love. The acceptance of the VMware Fusion to date has been incredible. Thank you to the Mac community for your support so far. Awards and Reviews VMware Fusion received many great reviews including three I want to call out: said 'Fusion has a much smaller impact on the Mac’s overall performance' said 'I currently prefer Fusion for its low impact on other OS X applications, support for multiple virtual CPUs, and huge library of virtual appliances.'
Said 'From a pure performance perspective, Fusion proves to be a faster performing platform than Parallels. Additionally, in our anecdotal hands-on testing we found Fusion to be somewhat more stable than Parallels' In addition to the many great reviews, VMware Fusion has won eight awards to date including the 2007 Macworld Eddy! See below for the list of awards won so far: We can’t thank the Mac community enough for how you have embraced VMware Fusion and we look forward to making 2008 an even better year for Mac users.
